Jonson's VOLPONE,
Marlowe's TAMBURLAINE THE GREAT PART I,
Shakespeare's HAMLET,
Webster's THE DUCHESS OF MALFI,
Behn's THE FEIGN'D COURTEZANS,
Dryden's ALL FOR LOVE,
Congreve's THE WAY OF THE WORLD,
Addison's CATO,
Goldsmith's SHE STOOPS TO CONQUER, and
Sheridan's THE SCHOOL FOR SCANDAL.

It will consist of three parts:

1. Short Answer Identification: (45 points) In the space provided on the test sheet, you are to briefly identify 15 theatrical terms, names of characters, significant persons, etc. Eg. Each answer is worth three points.

2. Brief cogent essay: (25 points) In the Blue Book provided, write a brief cogent essay on one of three topics.

3. Thorough cogent essay (30 points) In the Blue Book provided, write a thorough, cogent essay on "Rhetoric in 16th, 17th and 18th Century English Theatre."

4. Extra Credit: (10 points) There will be one Extra Credit Question.
